1889 Foundation recognizes that the need for nurse practitioners is growing in primary and specialty care, and supports education and training for these vital healthcare workers. Nurse practitioners are registered nurses who have earned at least a master’s degree and are qualified to treat patients on their own. They provide primary, acute and specialty care

E.MAP (the Employers Medical Access Partnership), which is a membership-based organization serving employers in five counties, and 1889 Foundation have awarded scholarships for 2018! E.MAP has funded these scholarships since 2009, supporting worthy recipients who are pursuing careers in a medical profession. This year, the Conemaugh School of Nursing Alumni Association established the Dana Petrunak Conemaugh School of Nursing Alumni Association Fund at 1889 Foundation.  The fund honors the memory of  Dana Petrunak, a past president of the association, who passed away June 7, 2014.  A scholarship will be given to a deserving student each year along
