1889 Foundation Awards $75,000 Grant to Victim Services, Inc. for Direct Support Services

Johnstown, PA – Victim Services, Inc. is proud to announce it has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the 1889 Foundation to support its Direct Support Services Program, which provides free, confidential assistance to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other violent crimes throughout Cambria and Somerset Counties.

The funding will allow Victim Services to enhance and expand access to critical, trauma-informed care for individuals in crisis. These services include 24/7 crisis response, legal advocacy, medical accompaniment, and therapy options such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), all of which are offered at no cost to victims.

The 1889 Foundation, known for its commitment to improving health and wellness in the region, recognized the essential role of Victim Services in addressing both immediate safety needs and long-term recovery for survivors of violence.

“The work of Victim Services is not only lifesaving, but life-changing,” said Susan Mann, President of the 1889 Foundation. “We are honored to support an organization that provides such critical, trauma-informed care to individuals and families during their most vulnerable moments.”

This new funding will help ensure that trained advocates remain available around the clock to meet survivors wherever they are, emotionally and physically
