In a show of community solidarity and support, 1889 Foundation has donated $10,000 to the Somerset County Disaster Recovery Fund, a local effort dedicated to helping the non-profit organizations that are assisting those impacted by the flooding in Somerset County.
The donation will support organizations whose critical recovery efforts have provided emergency shelter and are continuing to provide food assistance, cleanup supplies, and other needs that have been identified by the local organizations. 1889 Foundation recognizes the profound impact the flooding has had on these communities and is committed to helping restore stability and hope.
“At a time when so many of our neighbors are facing hardship, we believe it’s essential to step forward and support the recovery process,” said Susan Mann, President, 1889 Foundation. “Our communities are resilient, and together, we can rebuild stronger. 1889 Foundation deeply appreciates the tireless work those organizations and all of the non-profits organizations involved are doing to bring comfort and aid to those in need.”
The fund was established by the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies and the Somerset County commissioners in response to the recent flooding in the southern part of the county. 1889 Foundation encourages others in the community to get involved by donating, volunteering, or spreading awareness about the ongoing needs.
