Every year, the 1889 Foundation’s Chef Auction benefits a charity that is working on behalf of children. The 2016 proceeds have been given to The Healing Patch, a program of the Home Nursing Agency that helps children and their families cope with the loss of a loved one. The Healing Patch offers support groups, on-site counseling, and more completely free of charge, with the goal of helping grieving children understand that their feelings are normal, and helping them to process their grief so that hope and healing can occur.

The grant was announced at the United Way of the Laurel Highlands’ grant presentation, which was held last week. In the photo above, Allison Stockley, the Healing Patch Manager at the Home Nursing Agency, receives the check from Jim Heurth, United Way Board Member.
