Social Determinants of Health

Did you know that up to 80% of a person’s health is influenced by where they live? The social determinants of health are non-medical factors in the conditions where people are born, live, learn, work, and play that influence their health outcomes. They include things like:

  • Nutrition and food security
  • Employment and income
  • Housing and homelessness
  • Access to transportation
  • Access to affordable healthcare, including vision, dental, and mental health services
  • Education, including tutoring, early childhood development, afterschool programs
  • Social connectivity
